MDEA TRAINING PROGRESSION

Skin Diver

This course teaches you methods and techniques to make you an efficient, comfortable snorkeler.


Level One Diver

The entry level training to diving.


Level Two Diver
(Advanced Diver)

At Great Lakes Diving, this course is more a mentored process than simply making a few dives. The Level Two diver will be introduced into some basic specialties. As part of this course, you will do five dives over two days.


Level Three Diver

With 25 dives and two specialties, you will be certified as a Level Three Diver.


Level Four Diver

50 dives and a total of four specialties will earn you the recognition of Level Four Diver.


Level Five Diver

100 dives and a total of six specialties will set you apart from the average diver. Very few divers achieve this high mark of distinction.


Extreme Diver

For a slightly adventurous diver, having 75 dives and four extreme specialties . Some of the extreme specialties include Nitrox, Night, Ice, Cavern, Wreck, Solo, Rebreather, Cave, etc.


Divemaster

The entry level training for the dive professional. A Divemaster can assist instructors in certain tasks and can act as a dive guide or dive site manager.


Assistant Instructor

The assistant instructor may teach skin diving and assist in the teaching of students for open water. He may also act in the capacity of a Divemaster.



INSTRUCTOR TRAINING



Level One Instructor
(Open Water Instructor)

A Level One Instructor has acquired the knowledge and experience to teach others in safe diving practices. The course is broken into two phases. The first is the IDC or Instructor Development Course, and the second is IEC or Instructor Evaluation.


Level Two Instructor
(Specialty Instructor)

The Level Two Instructor is qualified to teach one or more specialties.


Level Three Instructor
(Master Instructor)

The Level Three Instructor can hold an instructor development course. (IDC)



Level Four Instructor
(Instructor Trainer)

The Level Four Instructor can hold both IDC's and Instructor Evaluations (IE).


Level Five Instructor

The Level Five instructor can conduct Level Four Instructor evaluations.
